Four reasons men dread Valentine's Day, from feeling pressured to the commercial hype.

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, many men aren't exactly thrilled about celebrating. But why? Here are four key reasons men hate Valentine's Day.

1. Is love only special on one day?

Men don't like expressing or showing their love just because they feel obliged to. Many see Valentine's Day as pressure and find it meaningless that love is only special on a single day.

Don't you agree that a gift or flowers given for no reason at all are more valuable than those given on a special day?

2. It's a commercial holiday

They think Valentine's Day is purely commercial, existing just to sell flowers and chocolates.

3. Especially if he's single…

Being alone on Valentine's Day, especially when all your friends have someone, is really awful. Studies have shown that this day can even cause depression among young people and adults who don't have someone special to celebrate with.

4. Celebrating all at once

Men think that celebrating love at the same time as the whole world, rather than experiencing special things with your partner, isn't actually special at all.

Valentine's Day used to be much more popular. Nowadays, women don't attach much meaning to it either, just like men. We suggest you don't get stuck on stereotypes and just do what makes you happy.

If you enjoy celebrating Valentine's Day, go ahead and celebrate. But if your boyfriend doesn't want to, try to understand him instead of forcing him. Or plan something special to help him enjoy the day!
